Actually it puts out more like 28V when charging, just like your car
actually puts out around 14V.

Remember that a 24V alternator doing 60A is like a 12V alternator doing
120A. Remember also that, in general, your 24V devices draw half the
current of a 12V device. If you really need more than that there are lots
of options, add a second 60A alternator, change to a 100A alternator (or
whatever the big one is) switch to a commercial alternator, Leece/Neville
for example makes some big stuff in 12V and 24V, but none of it's cheap.
