Mark makes good point about not operating these old radios. While you can
get them "into" the ham bands they probably don't meet todays
standards and are therefore not legal. Of course, without proper ham
license wouldn't be legal anyway. If you are out of the ham band still not
authorized. They can be damaged by improper operation and maybe lose some
value. They consume lots of power and are really not good in the crowded
bands.
 For PARADES get a CB. The are 12 volt, cheap, can be run on a proper
military antenna (or the one that comes with them). Many bands to select
from and will do a good job from one end of parade to the other. Richard
