A very bad idea indeed.

At a pinch, to me means someone is shooting at me and I need to be off PDQ.

As for damage something, best done next to a swimming pool or other large
body of water, an exploding battery is excitement you don't need. At least
the person that gets dowsed with battery acid can take a swim, preferably in
less than 100mSec after the event, whilst the others liberally wash
whichever vehicle had the exploded battery.

It rates along with other dangerous things like aligning two, flanged, 12"
steam pipes by putting a finger through a flange bolt hole or greasing the
inner bottom run of motorcycle chain by hand with it running in second gear.
Both the people I knew who did this can only count to 9.
