Importing Military Vehicles into the U.S.

The U.S. State Department policy on importing military vehicles has recently
been changed! There is a new "exception criteria". The "exception" allows
private citizens to import "Significant Military Equipment" (SME) into the
U.S. provided that it is approved by the BATF( it must be stripped of any
weaponry, etc.) and it not be currently used by any foreign military.

An SME is defined in Category 7 of the "U.S. Munitions List". It includes
tanks and military vehicles (armored, trains, tanks, bridge laucnhing,
halftracks, gun carriers, guns, howitzers, recovery vehicles,
engines,…amphibians)etc.

I spoke frequently with the State Department and the BATF over the last 6
months and have followed this situation very closely. Apparently, there is
an unnamed General in Washington, D.C. who was pushing for this "exception"
to the State Department policy.

Happy Importing!
