Chris,
Price sounds right; I paid something similar (750 ?? - I forget) for my
M101A1 cargo version back in late 80's, with all "fencing", no canvas. M116
(and -A1, -A2) actually designates the chassis only. M101 (etc.) is the
cargo version (box). Both are dump models, the box frame swivels at the
axle while the lunette / tongue assy stays hooked up.

I believe what you're seeing is the K38 pioneer trailer, as Russ Barrow
indicates. Another lister, Cougarjack, has begun restoring one also (Jack,
you out there?); he provided some pictures which I'll forward to you ... OK,
and you too, shutter-bug Raimondo ... off-list :)

I also agree with Jeff on the -A2 upgrade (hydraulic surge brake system).
Though I don't have it, it just seems a natural safety factor to have more
braking with a larger overall load. I'd like to find a kit for mine. Does
this one have that setup?

As for help (sleazy commercial coming), I have nice (& cheap) reprints of TM
9-2330-202-14&P, 1983 version (500 pages). Covers operation, maint, parts &
tools for all versions of M101 and M116 (plain, -A1, -A2), but I don't see
any info on the K38, alas! A big plus would be if yours comes with the
special manual for the pioneer kit.

Check the wiring, brake cables (for fraying)... or hydraulics, and wheel
bearings if ya can. What year / make is this one? Data plate should have
this. Based on what you report, I'd say talk the guy down, and rescue it!

oops! Your next post came along. Tell the finance co. that I know only of
the one other, and this after 28 years in the hobby. 3/4-ton trailers (of
any kind) as a rule seem to be scarce, this one sounds very complete, and is
definitely a find. Best of luck :)
