I just got my first MV, a '65 M37. The steering wheel has a lot of "play"
in it, about 6" right and left before it engages to move the wheels.
Although this would seem a simple problem (I know a little about mechanics
but not that much) when I take it to a mechanic, he just sort of says this,
that and the other thing need replacement w/o really looking over the job.
I have checked it out and the play seems to be in (what I assume to be) the
steering box at the end of the steering column. I have some spare (NOS)
parts such as tie-rod ends but don't that they are the problem.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.
