The hitch you refer to is available from France. We have/had them in stock.
However not much use to the Damn Yankees who have 2" balls as opposed to our
own 50mm. Possibly one of the first metrified artefacts in this country?

Brought mine home in a VW van, though getting it in and out was fun.
Nicest solution, though not in this instance, is a genuine jeep-style
pintle which looked entirely original until you realised the bottom jaw
was a 50mm ball, so it could tow pretty much any combination. Never found
out who made it though.
