I agree with David. Only problem with him is he drives and owns about 8 of
the wrong color green (post war) trucks. :)

Subject: [MV] HR 4205

Esteemed listees and assorted Oliver Stone wannabes.....

I have read the various posts concerning the above legislation...and I also
attended the general membership meeting of the MVPA in KC.

Mr. Holland discussed this at length. What he said was that the original
intent of Mr. Spence was for the government to have recourse in the event of
errors on the part of DRMO employees and "generators" within DOD which
inadvertently allow release of sensitive information and hardware through
sales or reutilization. Mr. Holland's concern, as well as ours, is that
future generations will use this as a tool to end our hobby. He further
explained that now is the time to stop this, and that rational discussion
with the elected officials is the way to bring this about. Further, he feels
rantings and militia-like threats will do more harm than good. After only a
brief conversation with Lee I quickly came to the opinion that he conducts
himself in a responsible, professional manner, even when debating issues
with
those that he doesn't agree with. He said that the MVPA website would have
updates on this subject as they develop.
Personally, I'd rather have him spending his free time working on this and
other issues than have him sitting at his computer answering every post to
this list.

IMHO, I think a lot of listers need to take a deep breath and think about
the
absurdities being tossed around.

Rich industrialists want to destroy our toys....I'd put Frank Buck's and
Jacques Littlefield's money up against the "dark sides" bankroll.
Lee Holland is a "mole" working to take our toys.....I guess he was planted
in the org years ago for just this reason and has been quietly working his
way toward this goal.
The hundreds of commercial customers (Peabody Coal Co., etc.) who have spent
SERIOUS money with the likes of Memphis Equipment (where a 5 ton can cost
$20,000) over the last 55 years are gonna say "sure, take my equipment,"
without first saying, "let me call my corporate lawyers."
That some bureaucrat thanks I can do more damage with an MB than I can with
a
Kenworth!!!!

I do think this can be a serious problem, and needs to be addressed
immediately, by a strong, cohesive group of collectors, not a bunch of
paranoid conspiracy-theorists.

Flame on gents!!!
My .02,
David Doyle
