Dear Tim,
1. Lee Holland is not trying to prevent anyone from writing our reps in
Congress, he is only trying as the assoc president to properly coordinate
the activities on these particular issues. It is his informed judgement
that it is NOT the RIGHT time to write our reps. He may change his mind if
things do not work out with the team in Wash, and if he shoots the green
star cluster, we will then need to write our reps with updated info based on
what occurs with the bill in conference committee to reach a compromise.

2. Lee Holland is not trying to keep the identity of our legal team and
lobbyist arbitrarily secret, it is a MUST to keep their identity underwraps
FOR NOW so their METHODS ARE NOT COMPROMISED. Someone on the list put out
an analogy yesterday that adequately compared revealing our team in Wash DC
to the public to letting a potential enemy know what our methods are in
processing intel on the battlefield, or intended targets in prep'g for war.
Same thing here - the right thing to do is not reveal thier identity. I
think you know that.

3. I heard some about the Jim Gilmore vs Lee Holland thing - but that has
no bearing on this issue. Lets stick to supporting the efforts that are
being taken RIGHT NOW, by the people in the know that are presently
coordinating things; lets trust Lee Holland's judgement on this, and if it
proves to be wrong then when elections come up, you can make the point then
- bickering about that type of thing now w/o cause only muddies the water,
is not constructive and makes some of us put our energies unnecessarily
addressing issues born of paranoia, distrust or other unrelated
disappointments. Let's try to be a little more positive in our approach and
unite - we have a reason to unite (HR-4205 and the BATF/DoS Form 6 issues)
so I would recommend directing our efforts there instead of internal
speculation and divisiveness.

4. Not a flame, just my opinion - food for thought.

I don't agree with either #1, not writing our elected reps--that is what
they are there for and we have a right and obligation to elt them know
our feelings- supposedly so they can "represent" us AND, #2, that there
is any reason not to let us Dues-Paying MVPA members know who is being
paid by OUR $$$, since it is already a matter of public record. This is
the kind of BS that Pres Holland is well-known for- he has told me
numerous times, with very ridiculous and unconvincing reasoning, that
certain things could not be revealed to the membership.
While I don't think LH is a "mole" planted by the Army, I DO feel he and
most of the other Board members are far too interested in preserving
their positions to properly represent us, especially when they conspire
to prevent anyone not part of their own "clique" to become a Board
member, i.e. the Jim GILMORE situation....
