Hello Mark:

    Back in 1986, I visited my sister & brother in law in Germany. He was
assigned to an 8 inch howitzer unit. He mentioned , while I was there that
they had motorcycles attached as part of their TO&E. As soon as their
current CO took over, he immediately locked them up as a way of keeping
injuries to a minimum. I can only assume that their reputation of being a
dangerous machine when ridden by a bunch of GI's was well known to the
brass.
