Hi Mark
I think that the reason he is looking for a non firing replica is that most
of the rallies you go to do not allow working weapons of any kind, or live
ammo. A further consideration is that when your vehicle is being displayed,
even though you try to keep an eye on it, with all that is going on etc, an
item like a carbine or pistol could conceivably be walked off with.
Although I haven't seen it at all the shows I've been at I am sure it
happens once in a while. We would be upset if someone took a replica that
cost us a few hundred dollars but we would be REALLY UPSET and justifiably
so if it was a live gun. I have permits for live MG's and have them but
even if a MV show allowed them I would still bring my dummy BMG anyway just
for the peace of mind. Hope this helps.
