my 2 companions thought I had gone over the edge, laughing and tap dancing
in the rain with a stuck truck and dark coming on...
i do like being totally in trouble, with very little support.....

Spares my friend, spares. OK, spare grade 3 bolts :). It shouldn't be that
hard to find some soft steel that would be a suitable replacement. If you'd
like I could look it up in the machinery handbook.

I have a Unimog, and yes, I've done that. There were a couple of different
PTO front mounted winches that were available as factory options for the
Unimog S. Plus some aftermarket Werners and such - rated around 12K # - but
using a different rating system than the usual system. Most of the usual
systems are rated as flat pulls - the Unimog systems are rated for lifts. In
real world use they rate around 20K# . How about a 'mog stuck up to the
doors in mud? That's called letting it sit for a couple of weeks until it
dries off enough to dig out. What fun.
