Maybe because WWII was not fought in America? ;)

seriously: consider this: there are more Mil-Veh collectors per capita
(I underline this) in Europe than there are in the US of A. Great
majority of them WWII Vehicle collectors, with not too many problems
finding vehicles and parts from various Government surpluses,
auctions, etc...
Also, consider that the distances involved in rallying to Beltring
from all corners of Europe are substantially shorter than in the US,
even if gas prices are exhorbitant. I am not even talking about moving
vehicles across the Atlantic, versus ferrying them across the Channel!

Another worthwhile event, which I personally attend faithfully is the
D-Day Commemoration Rally in Normandy, which unfortunately happens
only every five years, next one to be held in 2004.

Because WWII (and WWI) were fought in Europe, there is obviously a
great deal of interest in these events from the european population at
large, probably more than in the USof A.

I will take this opportunity to respectfully bow my head in hommage to
all our fallen allies, adding a grateful and admiring nod to surviving
Veterans. We owe you...and I don't think we'll be ever capable of
paying you back....

My two centimes...
Antoine
