Where the hardening of internal parts of a fuel injection pump comes in
is the input shaft is hardened. This is more important today due to the
lack of lubrication in the fuel. All new injection pumps that carry a
warranty have this because they had a problem with the early 6.9 and GM
6.2's breaking the shaft.
