RE: [MV] you never know

I have received two unsolicited emails from this individual over the past
couple of months. In both cases, he offered to let me in on a special deal
that he and his father were working on to obtain these vehicles from the
Australian military. Like others on this List, I was not aware that the
Australians used the HMMWV, and am a bit suspicious of the whole thing.
Since I was not even in the market for a HMMWV (I had posted a request for a
friend looking for one) I sent him a reply immediately after his first email
to me and explained the situation. His response was to send me another
email, about a month later, again mentioning the HMMWV's in Australia, and
explaining that they would like me to send them half the purchase price in
advance, so that they could obtain title to, and possession of, the
vehicles. This posting included a link to a couple of photos, including the
one of the piled up carcasses. Just sounded too fishy to me, plus I still
wasn't in the market for a HMMWV. Maybe somebody like Doug Greville could
comment on the likelihood of the Australian military having piles of used
HMMWV's available for sale. If that were the case, and if Doug new about it,
I suspect that he might have mentioned it to the List by now.

Yours Skeptically,

John

I had a reply to my first email in 20 minutes. When I pointed out he did
not answer my questions on address to visit business, phone and references
in my second email, that was the last I heard from him. I also told him I
would like references since his web site had no address or phone, and his
email accounts were with free services that require little information. I
asked if he would supply that info, since I'm sure he would not expect
people to just send him $12,000 or more, and that I wanted to visit his
business location.
No response from him since.
