WW2 USN Translation

Hi List,
I'm trying to help my kids look into their grandfather's military
history (he been gone about 15 years now). MV Content? Being US Navy he
probably served aboard some rather large grey HMVs and the job reference
listed is +ACI-truck driver+ACI- so he may have done that. Like so many veterans he
said very little about his service even to his wife. All we know (in
general) is he was in the US Navy from May 1944 until January 1946. There
are no known photos of him in service. He was awarded the American Area
Campaign and Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign awards but those have never been
with his uniform and his wife (married on return) never saw any ribbons on
him when he returned. We found his discharge and DD214 but have encountered
acronyms we can't translate. The paperwork is going into the local
Congressman's office to get the official records that may still exist but I
thought maybe some of our esteemed listers could perhaps help. The Navy may
have something (and may not) and it could take weeks or months to get
whatever they have. Here's a DD214 listing of his +ACI-vessels and stations
served on+ACI- and what we know (or think may be) each one in brackets after
each. Feel free to best guess this one please:

NRS, New Haven, Conn+ADs- +AFs-Naval Recruiting Station+AF0-
USNTC, Sampson, NY+ADs- +AFs-US Naval Training Center+AF0-
AG SCH, Norfolk, Va+ADs- +AFs-Air Gunner School ???+AF0-
AGC, Brooklyn, NY, (Atlantic)+ADs- +AFs-the +ACI-Atlantic+ACI- is hand written+AF0-
AGS, Shelton, Va+ADs-
AGC (PACIFIC)+ADs-
RS, NYK+ADs-
USNH, St.Albans, NY. +AFs-US Naval Hospital - on Long Island+AF0-

Was he an air gunner, served in the Atlantic fleet, sent back to school
for more (or different) training and sent to the Pacific, wounded and
discharged after recuperating? If we could figure out his service perhaps an
HMV still to be restored (there's a jeep in the works and another waiting)
can be painted and marked appropriately to represent this bit of history for
the kids. Sure would keep them interested (although that's not a huge
problem) in the hobby. Anbody care to try this one?

Thanks,
Dennis O'Connor
