Found an old M886 ambulance, which had the 1977 Dodge grille and headlight arrangement. The critter had a 340 cid V8 with oil bath air cleaner. Have never seen an oil bath air cleaner on a civilian version of these trucks, so possibly it was original equipment.
Some quick web research says the M880 trucks were 318 cid engines and had 24 VDC electric systems. This critter had 12 VDC & a 340 engine. Both engines are LA series small blocks, and it could be a replacement for the original, but why keep the oil bath air cleaner?
Engine was Chrysler blue, and the air cleaner was black. Did the original trucks have Chrysler blue engines, or were they painted OD?
