A tale of two combat rims.

Hi List,
I thought you might like to here about my recent
purchase of two 3/4 combat wheels from a fellow member
of this list. Just to show how things can happen when
all of the planets line up.
To start with I already had two wheels that I
purchased from a lister last year. But I was looking
for 2 or 3 more. On thurs. 1/11 a fellow lister
posted a message that he has several vehicles and
parts for sale. Included in this was some 3/4 combat
wheels. It was late at night and not much I could do
at that point, besides the wheels where in Califorinia
and I live in Indiana. The price on the wheels was
right but I knew the cost of shipping could double my
investment. So the next day, friday 1/12 I emailed
the guy to find out just where he lived in Calif.
Bearing in mind that I just happened to have a brother
that lived in Calif. But I figured that Calif. is a
big state and chances where the seller lived hundreds
of miles from where my brother lived. My brother is a
good guy but he is not going to chase around the state
not even for his own brother. Anyhow the seller emails
back on the same day 1/12 and it turns out he is only
35 miles from my brother. Now things are really
coming into play and my mind was fast in formulating a
plan. The seller includes very fine detailed maps on
where the wheels are at and how to get there. I email
all this to my brother and before the night is over I
have my brother and the seller in contact and an appt.
to meet Sat 1/12 to purchase the wheels by 10 AM.
What about the shipping to Indiana you say? Well it
just so happend that my parents are leaving for Az. to
pick up a load of furniture. The beauty of this, as
you can see, that they will meet with my brother, pick
up the wheels while they are at it and then return to
Indiana along with the wheels. I figured that the
planets must have been in alignment somewhere for all
of this to workout in the way that it did.
As for the wheels they are going on one of my M37s.
To me the adventure and story in getting these rims
was half the fun.
Later,
Dan Bever
