Careful John,

We have been warned that this is off topic, and we should not be playing
with such high minded ideas.
You do realize sir, that we have people with a far greater understanding of
such thing among us!
And, in more polite circles, it is considered near insufferable that such
simpletons as we, should take it upon ourselves to speak of such inane
ideas.

Thanks anyway, for the full quote and a proper footnote, I think I will add
it to my website.

The original quote from a web search is as follows:

The quote is from Martin Niemoller's response to his experience as a pastor
in
Germany in the 1930's.

"First they came for the communists, but I was not a communist so I said
nothing. Then they came for the social democrats, but I was not a social
democrat so I said nothing. Then they came for the trade unionists, but I
was
not a trade unionist so I said nothing. Then they came for the Jews, but I
was
not a Jew so I did very little. Then when they came for me there was no one
left
who could stand up for me."
