Don,

You say stripes on the roof also. More evidence of airfield use. I was
thinking that the big bold Zebra stripes on the side would help taxying
aircraft stay clear if the truck crossed a landing field exit ramp. The
stripes on the roof would also alert landing aircraft of a moving
vehiles location on the ground.

Question - Which of the three colors of paint do the stripes appear
overlaid on?
Where , or under whose control was the truck at that time?
If the truck worked on the bridge at the time it had stripes it is
possible they were to warn traffic and to remind workers aloft on the
bridge members not to drop tools!

The Plot Thickens!
