I should have given more details but I did get some useful info from some of
you of which I thank.
These batteries I got from a fellow who had them for a few years and did
nothing with them.he bought them at an auction.I was wondering if they would
be good enough to start some of my 24 volt MV's and if not at least they
should be good enough to power radio and accessory equipment in the vehicles.

They are about the size of a group 24 car battery(a little deeper).19 cells
individually attached with a strap bolted by allen keys to each other. The
maker is marathon battery company(somewhere in Texas).they were last
capacity tested 27/3/83.The container is aluminum with a removable top.
WGT55#max. Manufactered-0279 P/N-25696.
Charge info--61550-61599-041,battery nickel cadmium 24volts 22A.H. at 2 hour
rate.Other than a serial number that's all the info I have on them.I have
about 15 of these. My other option is to use them as a battery bank for a
small hydro station that I am thinking of building to become more
independent from the usual parasites.
