How about The Lionel Corp (of electric train fame) making ships compasses
(really large HMV's), navigation equipment, and interphone equipment?

Studebaker built Wright designed aircraft engines.

Of course Packard and the Merlin (after Ford passed on it).

Fairbanks-Morse and engines for subs (and sub-chasers I believe).

Baldwin and Lima Locomotive works built tanks, as did American Car and
Foundry.
