Steve's right, what I should have said was 'one of two surviving examples
of the 80 or so that came to the UK under lend lease'. Apparently they
were procured by Uncle Sam and still had USA numbers on so I'm in for some
sanding.

Tthe truck really only has two faults, the nice friendly people who took
the blower gear off originally lost half the mounting brackets and stays,
and the driving V8 is junk, which really is less of a problem because it's
a transplanted British version of the V8 anyway and I'd have been a lot
more upset if it had been the original US one.

Given that there are spare engines to come and the mounting brackets are
just lumps of steel cut and welded to shape, the only big expense should
be the rebuilding of the hydraulic rams (one of them's going to need a new
ram at least) and the rework of the six or so hoses. Mike Beckett in
Manchester is the hydraulic specialist so he will be getting a call about
his WC 42 and I'll just drop in the help request casually (if Ken doesn't
tip him off)

It would be really useful if someone on the list had that half-coupling
though, and I could do with a manual for the blower gear.

Gordon
