HTML vs. Plain Text

All of a sudden lots of quiet "lurkers" on this list have realized that
their inability to post to the list is caused by their email programs, not
the list. Yesterday Floyd Petri discovered that his obscure error message
really meant that he was posting in HTML, not Plain Text. The list will not
accept messages in HTML, Rich Text, or any "Special" format.

If you are having a problem posting, please check and make sure you are NOT
sending out your emails in HTML format. The list will not accept them. You
must be in "Plain Text" or "Standard Format" or your note will be returned.

On Outlook and Outlook Express, there is a blue bar at the very top of your
screen that tells the Subject Line and the format. The bar for this note as
I write it says "HTML vs. Plain Text- Message (Plain Text)". If it said
"Message (HTML)", the note would not post.

To change this, pull down "format" from the grey bar, and click on "Plain
Text". If you are using Yahoo, change from "Formatted Version" to "Plain
Version" in the "compose" screen. In Hotmail, make sure the "Rich Text
Editor" is OFF under "Tools" in the compose screen.

These are the only mail programs I have access to, but you should be able to
see the pattern now and figure out how to do this in other products.

Good Luck!!
