Hi Tim and List,

Yes, I am still here, somehow managing to survive the permanent assault on
the senses that comes with living in this delightful bastion of morality
that is S.E.A.

There are (can't resist the pun here.....) truckloads of Mutts in Vietnam,
ranging from the straight M151, all the way through to the AM General
A2. They cost between (USD) $1,500 and $6,000 each depending on their
(sometimes perceived) condition.

Unfortunately, there is a very Asian tendency to rivet lovely strips of
chrome to the sides and fit the aesthetically-pleasing Recaro seats, not to
mention the go-faster wide mag-alloys and white-wall tyres.

Fortunately, this is all fairly easily rectified and (!) may even bring
down the cost of your prospective Tu Do (sorry chaps, that's Hai ba Trung
these days) Cruiser.

Getting her outta Viet Nam is (surprisingly) a piece of piss; getting her
into China, however, may well be a different story:

........."Hello Mr. Paranoid Communist Customs Official, Sir, I would just
like to import thissy-here piece of good ole Yankee military ee-kwipment"

........."honest Guv., I only want to drive it around........."

........."no, really, I don't have the slightest interest in your military
airfields, no siree........."

........."HOW MUCH????"

........."Whaddayamean, no receipt?????"

If you need a contact in Saigon, I have one and he has done it before.

Cheers
Gavin
