I was ask to forward this to the list from Mr. Pete. Wayne

Is this a potentially dangerous problem with M35's?

I recently made a 350 mile highway trip with an M35. I stopped at 170 miles
for refueling and rest. The tach maxed out at 26-2700rpm and speedo was
about 68mph. Removed the cap and strainer to facilitate refueling and
noticed the tank was steaming/misting??? diesel fumes. I could hold my hand,
just barely, on the bottom portion of the tank. Air temperature was 80
degrees, do not know what road temperature was. Later, testing at home
attempting to duplicate my apparent "felt" temp. with hot water and a
thermometer approximated 105-108 degrees. Will this fuel heating be
dangerous on hot days? Could the return line be enlarged to fix this? Would
a oil cooler he useful? All info/experiences appreciated
