Leased versus unleaded fuel.

List,

Just read the message below. Point is that one of the dealers of military
vehicles I know runs his Nekaf M38A1s, Willys MBs and Hotchkisses (this is
the Netherlands) on unleaded fuel. No hardened valves or valve seats in his
engines he said. He told me he has done so for over 20 years and has never
experienced any damage to the engines.
I am new to the art of keeping a mil veh om the road and am willing to
listen to the fellow who has more knowledge of the subject than I do. This
includes (nearly?) all fellow list members by the way for which I express
thanks. Personally I believe that the lead in the fuel definitely has its
function and cannot be left out without consequences. What must I do?
Another subject is engine oil. Can I use mineral oil with dopes like 25W40
in my 1956 Nekaf M38A1 or is it better to use the 2 kinds of oil without
dopes for summer and winter like the 1963 manual says?

Appreciate all help.

Thanks,

Cor
1956 M38A1
