My Fiancee and I were just talking about this over lunch, on the future of
the MV hobbie. I had always been interested in military history and
airplanes because of my father. Growing up in the field of aviation and
owning a WW2 basic trainer, it gave me a early start in what military
history was all about. Only until I was 10 and a visit to Vermont
Commercial Salvage, unknowingly that I just aquired the bug. I remember
riding the back roads looking for the elusive green trucks with a white
star. My favorite was the M135 and M211 and I knew one day that I would own
one.(thank god I had seen the light and fell favorably for the M35) My
interest grew even stronger over the years, reading anything I could get my
hands on. Only in my teen years did I realise what the meaning really was.
To me they were just fun toys to fly around and look at. Only did the
historical part come later. I eventually bought my 1st with my dad when I
was 24. A 1951 M37, while its still under restoration in my garage, I
mannaged to buy a M35A2 and then a M62 and now a M54A2C, all before I was
30. I have 2 more before I am done and then I will help Johnathan start his
collection. But for now it can be fun for him, for me its fun, but
preserving the history and having a Vietnam vet come up and say thanks.
Thats what makes it worth it for me.

Jeff
