At Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD a simple math technique called "sum of the
moments" is used, besides a tape measure you still need a means of lifting
the front and back end of a vehicle or trailer and a scale or load cell. The
primary reason CG is used here is to determine the performance envelope so a
safety release can be issued. If there is a problem then a warning or caveat
on using the system is emplaced e.g. don't exceed 30 deg side slopes, etc.
Once done there is no need to redo it unless vehicle/trailer is modified .
