Tony and List,

I insure my civilian vehicles through USAA. I had the insurance already set
up on my M816 wrecker, so I never even gave a thought to insuring it with
USAA. Might be worth checking into, although it only costs me about $120.00
per year to insure it, so maybe they won't be that much cheaper. By the way,
I was a First Sargent in the Army (Active, Reserve, and Guard over a period
of 26 years). Normally USAA only insures Officers and their dependents, but
they were accepting us lowly NCO's for a while. Not sure if they still are.
I've had my coverage with them for over a year, now. I had already retired
from the military when I applied with them.

Everette and List,

I insure my deuce and all my other road worthy vehicles through USAA.
I'm not sure if you were ever in the service but if you were an officer,
I believe you might be eligible. They insure Military officers and
dependents. I don't recall if you need to be on Active Duty status at
the time of issue or not. BTW are there many other former military guys
who are using USAA for their HMV's? I've found them very good over the
last 15 years. They have never given me a problem, even have my Ferret
insured with them and they never required me to keep any of them in a
building like I hear some of the others do. Funny thing is my wife had
them too when we got married because she was an air force dependent way
back when.

Cheers,
Tony

Just a note to keep you all abreast of my search for insurance

Progressive wanted over 2000.00 per year
Farm Bureau -- will not insure military style truck
Nationwide -- NO NO NO
Farmers Insurance -- agent local said -- we do not insure trucks like
that
State Farm (where I am now with 5 civy. vehicles) -- maybe - under
study
for 3 weeks
Allstate -- NO NO NO NO
Gulfway - NO
Met-Life - not interested

Everyone I talked to said I would have to move my other vehicles to them
before they would insure deuce - I said "Not a problem if you will quote
me
a reasonable price on deuce." see replies above. Farm Bureau was very
very
rude

Everette
