It's the steel in the dash and window frame, it will do the same thing if
you mount it to the door or the back of the cab. You will have to space it
far enough away from any metal so it will point north. These compasses are
designed for the plastic cars of today.

I don't know what this has to do with it but it there is phosphorus in the
gauges to make them glow. Also the low air buzzer probably has a magnet in
it.
