Thanks for your input Louis, I appreciate your comments.

First I'm not up on the pickups re the models at all The dates ('49 & '50)
are given to me by the present owner.

Yes, is the answer to your question Louis, both frames are holed at the
point between the cab and the box
I inspected them thoroughly. The problem area is quite minimal They are not
cracked, buckled or broken and both would be totally saveable. Either way,
I would have no problem re-working new steel as a decent patch over the
original frame... or, as a totally new section added in.

I know that either truck will never be a real workhorse pickup, or used
during winter's salt season !
Both floors are history, at the seams
The rest floors are basically intact for the main part. However, where they
join the cab sidewalls, there is the usual mild to heavy salt rust/rot ! As
well as the lower panels

The '49 flatfenders are quite good. While the '50 pickup, has the front
rolled forward fenders, that are noticeably in need of a re-work.

The Cab tops are excellent some "rust bubbled paint" in places, but no holes
above the floor
The doors have also been already re done/patched in the lower door skins.
These would need another full repair.

The overhead valve Hurricane is a quite small straight 6
The '49, the better truck , has a Buick V6
Both engines, wont turn over !
Both trucks have had the firewall cut to accommodate the engines. So, they
are not the original engines.
Each firewall cut is a real bad job too !

Both Boxes need saving .
However, the box sidewalls are very good on the '49 and mediocre to poor
condition for the other '50 model.
The 49' is the truck with the decent rear tailgate. A couple of small dings
on the top roll. The bottom hinge roll section needs rebuilding due to rust.
But, the totally flat surface of the tailgate across it's full width,
including the stamped emblem ...WO., is excellent.

The '49 has the two piece seat. The poorer jeep, '50 model, has the
single liftup full bench.

Glass is just a mix of good and gone on both.

The owner is asking a very reasonable price indeed. I feel its quite worth
the money....

Then again, it's not that I dont have enough on my plate right now !
I also have several early jeeps '42 Mb & '44MZ and two CJ2a's to keep me
very busy. All need rebuilding although the '42MB is up and running
nicely... it still needs a full rebuild. As well there are a few others
that need to be moved out altogether. The wife says I need to start selling
off ...but she's just plain silly.

Regards
Rob Pearson.
Upstate NY area.
