I once tried to iliminate the squealing by tightening
the belts, only to find out that I ended up
prematurely wearing out the bearings in the alts.
I've thought about upgrading the V-belts to a modern
belt design, but with the cost and labor intensive job
involved, I'd rather listen to the squeal during the
warm up.
