Hmmmmm, a bit off the mark perhaps Jack, the Schwimmer is a 4x4 and perhaps
you
are slightly confusing price and demand = rarity.

My local German MV writer and historian tells me that he has exhaustive
details
on 142 known Schwimmers, plus the names of a further 32 owners. This
represents
likely less than half the actual numbers existing and a fair estimate would
be
about 500. They are very sought after though and the price reflects this
being
in reality over-inflated when one comes up for sale, and this is rare since
there is a ready line of well-heeled buyers already on the grape-vine so
there
is little need to advertise.

For example the last Schwimmwagen I know of here that sold locally was an
original example, complete, running but tatty and non-swimming without work;
this made 24,000 UKP (35,457.02 USD at today's rates) with no haggling
needed.
