The Weasel was absolutely, never, ever, in the entire time it was
produced... armored. Never. I'll restate that for the guy you were
talking to incase I was not clear... it was NEVER armored :-)

I have a rather large heap of the buggers, as well as plenty of
literature, not to mention a network of Weasel guys I am in touch with
when I am not working my tail off (like now). This was a light cargo
carrier designed to give the most beneficial over snow capabilities.
 Tossing a crudload of steel is NOT the way to get low ground pressure.
 It also only had a 2000lb (or so) payload capacity, which isn't very
much (4 crew/passengers gets you more than 1/3 way there). The Weasel
was excellent in what it did, but 20 gauge steel and canvas is all that
ever protected its crew.
