24 to 12 volts, alternate solutions

Found this on the web, it's a battery equalizer and it provides 12 volts
from one of the two batteries in the 24v system and equalizes the charging
current as needed to both batteries. 24 volts is provided as before.
the site is: http://www.surepower.com/pdfs/bus.pdf

The units are pricy, the 2.5A model costs $120.00 and the 25A model costs
$438.00

Another solution is to simply use 12v from the grounded battery in the 24
volt system and at the end of the day run a 110VAC charger, which charges
each battery according to its needs. Such a charger is "Chargetek 500"
(chargetek.com) Price is about $100.00. The chargetek 500 is also an
excellent means to maintain the batteries if the vehicle is not used
regularily. I have one permanently installed on my vehicle, but have not
really used it as of yet. It is not harmed by the alternator and can be
permanently wired to the batteries. Just plug in the 110 VAC when needed. It
can be left plugged in indefinetly.

Just for your information.

Bjorn
