Not another "Military only zone"

Gentlemen please, I hate to see these heated debates. However, you have
made me think about what I am doing with my truck and the plans I have for
it.

You all have prompted me to ask a couple of questions.

First off, my truck is straight from the junk yard. It's paint is bad and
it's not a pretty site, especially next to a nicely restored one. I have no
doubt it will be welcomed in our little small town Christmas parade (they
let my dad pull a buggy with his golf cart), but will I be turned away at
some of the "celebrations" I am planning to attend, things like "Freedom
Fest" here in Columbia, SC, where I have seen restored vehicles. I am
going to check into this as much as possible before I go.

Secondly, I felt a little out of place at the Truck show at Spencer a few
weeks back because I didn't where something that looked military. I plan to
ware olive drab pants and shirt, and black boots the next time I go
somewhere in it. I don't plan to try and pass for a "GI" or a re-enactor.
That's a little more than I want to do, and believe me after the past couple
of days on here, what I want to do is what I should do. I tell people to do
what makes you happy and at least ONE person will be happy. Is there a code
or something to this hobby that one should stick to as far as what you
should ware when participating in these events?

Lastly, other than the law, is there any one else I should think about when
I put the "dummy" gun on the gun mount. Is that a taboo in some circles. I
have seen dummy guns on other vehicles at the places I plan to go, so I
don't think it will be a problem, but should I check with the organizers
when I go somewhere new.

For what it is worth, you guys are feeding my paranoia about taking this
thing out in public. The up side to that is now I will ask all those little
dumb questions before I head out. No question is dumb if the answer could
keep you from getting turned around. Besides, the older I get the easier I
will tell some one to "kiss my a##". The big truck just makes me bolder.
