Re: [MV] Turbo boost on a M54? Anyone know the specs?

I have a turbo calculation program which seems to be pretty accurate when
plugging in the stock LDT 465 specs. ( I had to guess at how volumetric
efficient it was so I lowballed it at 65%) I ran all sorts of different
numbers, eg, boost pressures (up to 25 lbs), ambient air temps, and air
temps intering the manifold after the compressor, to name just a few.
The results were rather interesting. About the same as the
International DT 466, which is still used in medium trucks. From what I
remember the LDT 465 running 20 lbs of boost with an intake approach temp
of 50 degees, ( 80 degree day= 130 degree intercooler output ) egt max of
1200 degrees was at almost 300 hp. This is only the theoretical
potential. Weather or not the engine internals could take it and the
pump/injectors could supply the fuel rate needed????? On Sun, 13 Oct
