first time driving a Ferret

Well today I got to drive a Ferret for the first time. It was an
experience! I really liked it once I got used to the way it handled. The
shifting is a lot easier than I thought, the whole idea of pre-select is
pretty neat. If you are thinking ahead a little it is a pretty slick way to
drive. Not exactly a rally car at slower speed when it comes to steering,
but not bad once you are on a roll.

Driving with the front viewport/hatch open in cool weather is a bit of an
eye opener. Sort of like ram air. I now understand some of the statements
made by listers about foul weather driving in a Ferret! I can only image
what being caught in a rain storm would be like.

This machine was a Mk 1, I think. No turret, just a .30 mount on the front
of the opening for the commander.

I was wondering what something would be worth. 6500 miles. Good brakes and
engine runs good. Very little on the inside though. Missing the vision
blocks and the two small pistol port type opening were welded shut.
EVERYTHING inside was painted gloss white. Steering wheel, wires, rubber,
lights. You name it, it was white. No boxes, bins or racks. It does have
both the launchers and blocks that they mount to. The control for them was
missing.

A little bit of oil around the valve cover and the brake cylinders were
leaking just a bit but suspect this is from lack of driving.

Vehicle has a moderate detailed .30 Browning with it and an antenna aerial,
a bunch of books and the pioneer tools.

I may have an opportunity to purchase this vehicle next year and would be
interested in a fair assessment of price.
