compensator

just my opinion, but i think there are many variations in injector pump
settings. the way to know if your truck is running properly ( assuming
turbo model ) is to put a low pressure gauge ( 0 - 15 psi ) on the
intake manifold test port. 1500 rpm should be 5 psi and 2300 rpm should
be 9 psi. this is at full throttle and if you don't have a slight hill,
just use the brake to maintain speed long enough to read the gauge. if
the pump is set this way the compensator should have no real effect on
performance, since it is then part of a calibrated system.

(and anyone who turns up the fuel rate without gauges and experience can
very easily damage the engine.)
