I wouldn't recommend a 180 mile trip as a learning experance. I would hire this done and learn around the house.

Each method of towing has it own advantages and disadvantages. Towbars are the cheapest way to go. Easy to take with you and easy to hook up. Some things tow great this way and some don't and you can't tell until you hook it up and try it. You will also be using the veh tires which may be dry rotted and come apart. You also spin the wheels and gears. If it has set up a long time the bearing may be worn or dry and cause trouble. It is almost imposible to back up with a tow bar. A tow dolly bypasses most of the things that make a veh tow bad with a tow bar. Otherwise it is like a tow bar.

A trailer is the best way to go. Uhaul rents a car hauler trailer which should be big enough for a M37. It has surge breaks.

With the right setup you should be able to go 65.
