Howdy List,

My brother called tonight and wants me to ask the list about the dump truck
he found at a soon to be auction in Texas. The truck was used by a county
road district but no one was around on Sunday who knew anything about its
condition.

What he knows:
Mechanically
Unit fires up immediately, idles nicely, turbo.
Air pressure was up on it already so buzzer never came on.
Power steering works great.
Hydraulic oil all over engine compartment, he suspects blown dump
pump/fitting/hose etc.
75% rubber commercial truck tires.
No winch.
He did not drive it as there was little room and no one around.
Cosmetics
Not much rust except on front windshield frame.
Moderately fresh camo paint job.
Dump bed has cab over shield, bed not beaten up, everything there etc.
Cab has original seats, log book from military.

He asks the eternal question---What is a fair range of prices at auction.

I throw it open to the list - what are the good/weak points on these trucks?
What are they worth? We will use it on a ranch to haul caliche and dirt to
maintain our roads. It will not be used for high speed hard road duty. In
other words, it will be in its element!

Any info/comments/disparaging ideas solicited.

TIA,
Mel Miller
