Water Leaks in CUCV's

Revisement: What I meant to say about not trying to do the windshield if it
is your first time. (Not sealing it but removing it) This is actually an
easy procedure BUT it is VERY easy to break or crack the glass windshield
itself if you don't have the "feel" for it. If the windshield shop breaks
it, they are liable. You break it-you cry! BTW, glass isn't that expensive
either and if you have a 20 year old glass, it may be "worn-out" too and
need replacement. (wiper scratch, frosted, discolored and pock/stone marks)
You would be surprised also at how much better the CUCV would "feel" with a
new glass and a tinted one helps with the discolorization of the dashboard!
Also, if you have a leaking gasket, chances are that the gasket is bad. A
few can be resealed but now is the time for gasket replacement and make a
tighter CUCV. You can get a gasket without the chrome surround which is
want you want and is cheaper. Another common leak often ignored is where
the antenna wire came in (1" holes) the hardtop. Often these are left open
and unplugged. Big leak!! Julian Burke
