Best of the season to you all!

I'm not sure if this is even a problem,
upon a cold start, first thing in the morning type of start, even after
left idling in PARK for a short while, there is a pause (a few extra
seconds, maybe 2-3) before the transmission engages in DRIVE or REVERSE.
Its fine after that, engages in a second either way, shifts fine, modulator
valve doing its thing, varying the shift points with load, nothing odd
there. Don't sense any shift slippage.

Is there an internal leakdown, and would this otherwise be normal?

Fluid levels are fine, hot or cold, no smell (burnt oil), no external leaks.
Last automatic I ever had long long ago, was the old Powerglide, only two
gears then, upp believe it.

Thanks all!
Ted.
