hardtops, and special new noises

After driving for a while with the insulated hard top, I have noticed
that the engine roar and road/wind noise is much reduced. Now I can
hear all the other wonderful sounds the M35 makes. At speed, the
transmission whines prominently when under load, and is fairly quieter
when coasting.

On an irregular highway, the sound alternates as the drivetrain load
and unloads, so it goes whine, whine, whine...

Should I be concerned? It seems fine, no different than before, in its
operation.

This occurs after things have got up to temperature, and perhaps I am
seeing the gear oil become thinner when hot?

When hot, it can be a little more difficult to get it into second gear
(from neutral) at a stop light.

Any comments?

Thank you,
PJ
