One solution would be to adjust the free play in the pedal by
adjusting the clevis in the linkage. Don't adjust so far that gears grind when putting the transmission in gear. Then attach
a block or pad between the floorboard and pedal. By this, I
mean under the truck and up by where the pedal thingy comes
through the floorboard. This will hold the pedal down a couple of inches, but be sure to maintain some free play. You don't
want to burn out the throwout bearing.
