Normally, the pump needs to be running in order
to start the motor, but I've had several trucks
come in, one even driven fifty miles to my place,
that had non-operating in-tank pumps. We even
started some and drove them around, discovering
the defective pumps after air was up, motor off
and accessory switch on. Without the buzzer, we
could then notice that a pump wasn't running.
