I found that the Gordon West six tape set was the easiest for a lot of
people...and before I took the 13 word test, (1988, went from tech to
advanced that day) they give 20 wpm...and I was getting words instead of
trying to spell them out one letter at a time. Kinda made me
smile...they told us that could happen...I knew that I could pass 20 wpm
right then...but decided to go advanced for some time in grade...so to
speak. Well, recently, they dropped the advanced class of license and
they are no more. I always wanted to be (a little) different from the
crowd...so I'm staying with the advanced ticket...theres not that much
more to extra class...band space wise.
I saw a fellow at the Dayton Hamfest years ago that looked like one of
the fellows that Steve was referring to...and I even looked at him after
he went by...and he had a big 'ol cockroach crawling up his back...WOW!
I looked over at the guy that was with me and said...I'll bet he's one
of those extra classes! (no disrespect to you fellows with the higher
ticket.)<g> Fred Martin KE8SS
