I'm not making this up.

The French quasi-government organization that has historically monitored and
controlled the French language (La Societe Francaise) has declared that the
term "email" will no longer be allowed in polite conversation or in the
print media. Instead the term will now be "courier electronique" or
something similar.

The rationale for this decision is that too many "American" terms are
leeching into the French language. Terms like "hamburger", "D-Day", "We
came over and kicked Hitler's ass so that you could be French again,
Froggy", etc, are apparently eroding the pure Language of Voltaire.

Arthur P. Bloom, Kraut/Mick

"The French,
they are a silly race...
They fight with their feet,
and f--- with their face."

Ogden Nash
