Eric,

I should have mentioned-- jack up one front wheel at a time, then place
one hand at top and the other at the bottom of the tire and gently try to
shake the wheel. If it moves very much-pack the bearings and torque the
spindle nut. Repeat with other wheel.

If there is no up&down movement place your hands at 3 0'clock and 9
0'clock and check for movement. If you now have movement check the
tierod ends.
